Our Philosophy

The practice of Yoga is a rich and ancient tradition of self awareness, introspection, physical betterment, and integrative wellness. Through continued practice, both on and off "the mat" we become more comfortable with life and the fluctuations of thinking and being. This creates a more centered approach, reducing stress and increasing joy in our busy modern lives.

I created Fire Horse Yoga as an offering to my community. A way of giving back to all of those who have offered their teachings to me in innumerable ways.
I know in my own life what the practice of personal awareness and physical activity has done for me and would like to share the beauty of Yoga with others.

There is a Way of Yoga for everyone. Without exception. The path is to find it.

Our History

I started Fire Horse Yoga in 2005 after graduating from Wilmington Yoga Center's 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training ( www.wilmingtonyogacenter.com ) and began teaching in my local community here in NC. I wanted to share the gifts of health, wellness, and inner peace that Yoga offers to the people in my area.  The nearest Yoga center is 40 miles away and knowing that people are most likely to continue a wellness program within 10 miles of their home, I wanted to be accessible to as many people as I could.

Since then, I have continued my training and now have a 500 hour Professional Yoga Therapist (PYT) certification from Integrative Yoga Therapy www.iytyogatherapy.com and certifications in Yoga for Seniors and Yoga Therapy for Seniors from Duke Integrative Medicine                             www.dukeintegrativemedicine.org

I have most recently increased my dedication to the study and teaching of Yoga by opening a downtown studio space for Yoga, art, and books called Earth Element. My intention is to make the many aspects of the practice of Yoga accessible to anyone who wants to see for themselves what Yoga is all about and what it can do for them. Although I do charge for my classes, it is not prohibitive, and anyone who wants to learn the practice of Yoga is encouraged to come and explore. My business partner, Donna, and I are also offering Pilates classes and upcoming workshops in back care, partner Yoga, restorative Yoga, and Senior Yoga. There are scholarships for those who want to learn and cannot afford the fee, and the first class is free to new students.

in service and gratitude ~
